FAQs

Do you provide Psychotherapy?

Yes. Some of the people I see already have therapists, in which case I mainly work with them to manage medication, but I often meet regularly with people for 45-minute sessions that include psychotherapy.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Most of our meetings will be virtual. I may require one or two in-person sessions as we get started or if we introduce certain medications, but I am not regularly available for in-person meetings.

Do I have to be in NEw York?

Yes. It is necessary that you are physically located somewhere in the state of New York at the time of our sessions. I will call prescriptions in to New York pharmacies. In some cases where you are traveling temporarily, we may still be able to meet online as needed.

What if I can’t reach you?

I do my best to respond to all inquires from potential new patients. If you are a current patient, I will respond to emails within 48 hours; if you have not heard back, please write again. For periods where I plan to be unavailable, I work with a team of other clinicians who can provide care as needed, including Dakota Thomas.

How much do sessions cost?

Session cost depends on your coverage. I accept Optum, Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. With these insurances, your standard copay applies. Unfortunately, I do not currently take Medicaid or Medicare. In cases where I do not accept your insurance, we can discuss out-of-pocket rates.

Can I refer someone to you?

As a general rule, if the person is someone whom I would recognize because you talk about him or her in therapy, it’s best to find another clinician. If it is someone you do not regularly mention in our work together, I am happy to meet with a friend, colleague, relative etc.

Do you have experience with…?

Often, the best way to determine whether I am well-suited to support you is by scheduling a free 15 minute conversation. You can fill out the contact form (above) to get in touch. We will discuss what you are experiencing, the kind of support you are looking for, and your availability to meet. If we begin working together, it can be useful to keep open the question of whether this seems like a good fit.
